Mini Tour-Guide of Vegan Strasbourg

I’ve been living on the border between Germany and France for almost two years now, and I thought it was about time for me to share with you guys my favourite weekend getaway treat. At only a one-hour drive from where I live, there is this wonderful architectural jewel called Strasbourg. My boyfriend and I love it so much, that we always try to spend some time there on every single occasion that we have.

Strasbourg is the capital city of France’s Grand East region, previously known as Alsace; and it is also the official seat of the European’s Parliament alongside Brussels and Luxembourg. Housing approximately 770 000 people, it is considered the ninth biggest metropolitan area in France. However, regardless of how big Strasbourg is, the perk of this wonderful city is that everything is so close at hand! Once you are within its Grande Ile, you feel projected into this vibrant and lively cultural artistic town. The whole city centre is full of monuments, theatres, museums, shopping boulevards, cafés and restaurants. If you’ll visit, you’ll to fall in love with it too.

Anyway, getting back on track with the main topic of this post; the last time I visited, I decided to review some Vegan restaurants for you guys. If you enjoy this article, please let me know, and I’ll do more Vegan Strasbourg related posts. There are tons of more spots I would love to share with you guys.

So here we go…

-°- RESTAURANTS & BISTROTS -°-

VÉLICIOUS BURGER

20 Grand Rue, Strasbourg – France

Located right on the Grand Rue, this is without a doubt the most central Vegan Restaurant I’ve tried so far in Strasbourg. All of the burgers are 100% Vegan, and the ambience winks an eye to its youngest customers. Walking in, you feel catapulted into a cartoonish happy Farm full of bright colours. The Burger House is a self-service restaurant, and I’d say the food we had was good value for money (especially considering its super central location). I probably would not recommend it for a romantic dinner, but it is definitely the diner to keep in mind if you are visiting the city with young children!

VÉLICIOUS

43 rue Geiler, Strasbourg – France

This 100% Vegan bakery and restaurant, has most probably the biggest variety of vegan pastries I have ever seen in my life. Sadly a bit far from the city centre, I’d say that this is the only down side to this bistrot. I had the most beautiful & delicious vegan baked goodie I have ever tried so far, and it also came with a little bonus chocolate bunny to top it off. I had a massive platter of battered Seitan, which was so big that I couldn’t even finish it, and my boyfriend took their Seitan Winter Wrap. Everything we had in this “modern meets inspirational quotes” restaurant was really really good. Even if you’ll need to take a tram to get there…I would definitely visit it if I were in town.

BISTROT & CHOCOLAT

8 Rue de la Râpe, Strasbourg – France

Right behind the Gothic Cathedral, is this lovely cosy coffee shop called Bistrot & Chocolat. It has the most wonderful, warming and welcoming atmosphere. Not the cheapest, and not all Vegan, on Sundays it offers 7 different, delicious brunch choices. I had their yummy Pôeles de Carottes Miam, and Stefano tried their Salted Miam. We spent the most lovely Easter brunch there, and I daydreamed all along of maybe one day having my own little coffee shop as cosy as this one.
